What LookOlder actually does
Most aging filters make one jump: your photo goes in, an old face comes out, and the resemblance is a coin flip. LookOlder ages you in stages. The 50-year-old portrait is generated from your original photo, and the 70-year-old portrait is generated from that 50-year-old result. Each step inherits the last one, which is why the sequence reads as one person moving through time.
You end up with a slider you can drag between now, 50 and 70, plus a ready-made before-and-after card you can save or post. There is no account, no app install and no watermark negotiation: one upload, about twenty seconds, done.
What actually changes as a face ages
Facial aging is not simply wrinkles drawn on top of a young face, and a good result reflects that. Three separate processes run at once, and they are what the model reproduces.
- Volume moves. Fat pads in the cheeks shrink and drift downward, which hollows the midface and softens the jawline. This is the single biggest reason older faces read as older, even in low resolution.
- Skin changes texture. Collagen and elastin decline, so skin becomes thinner and less springy, holding the creases that expression used to make and release.
- Bone recedes. The eye sockets widen and the jaw loses height over decades, which subtly changes the proportions of the whole face.
How to get a result worth sharing
Age progression models read the geometry of your face, so the input photo decides most of the quality. A few habits make the difference between an uncanny result and one that genuinely looks like you.
- Face the camera straight on. Profiles and steep angles confuse the model about bone structure.
- Use even, soft light. Harsh shadows get interpreted as wrinkles and exaggerate the aging.
- Keep the face large in the frame, roughly a head-and-shoulders crop, and avoid heavy zoom or beauty filters.
- Skip sunglasses, hats and hair covering the forehead. The hairline and brow carry a lot of the aging signal.
- A neutral or lightly smiling expression works better than a wide grin, which flattens the very lines the model needs to age.
Your photo does not stick around
Uploads and generated images are deleted automatically within 24 hours, and they are never used to train any model. We do not run face recognition, we do not build a biometric profile, and there is nothing to log into, so there is no profile to leak. The service is for adults only, and you should upload photos of yourself rather than of other people.

How accurate is AI age progression?
It is a plausible illustration, not a prediction. The model reproduces the average way faces age, but your genetics, sun exposure, sleep, smoking and weight changes will move the real outcome in either direction. Treat it as entertainment, not a forecast.
Do you keep my photo?
No. Photos and results are deleted within 24 hours and are never used for training. We do not perform face recognition or store biometric templates.
Does it work on any face?
It works across skin tones, hair types and both younger and middle-aged faces. Results are weakest on extreme angles, heavy shadows, low resolution and photos where the face is partly covered.
Can I use it on someone else, or on a child?
No. Upload only your own photo. The service is restricted to adults, and uploading images of minors or of other people without their explicit consent is not allowed.
